Vote. Be part of history.

I feel giddy today. It’s almost like… Christmas Eve. A big birthday. The day before vacation.

There has been so much anticipation, so much build-up, and if things go as the media predicts, today we will elect the first African American president of the United States.

j0384874I plan on letting the lines die down a bit (yeah, right) and will hit the polls late morning. I’ll check back in later with any juicy anecdotes. Feel free to share your own voting experience in the comments.

  1. Whoever you vote for: vote early and vote often!

I am so glad I get to excerise this fundamental right.

And I am much more grateful that I get to exorcise all the name-calling and badmouthing that is politics, that has made me dread TV commercials for oh, about a year now.

What oh what will all the political wonks do with lives after tonight :)

  2. Curt – I know, it’s also a relief to have the campaigning over.

My polling update – about 30 minutes from hitting the line to filling out the optional survey and grabbing my “I voted” sticker. The polling place was very organized, the judges were friendly (especially the grandpa I flirted with on the way in), people were patient and orderly. It didn’t hurt that it’s a perfect Autumn day, either.

    Now… we wait.

  3. Thank you for voting today, and for encouraging others to do so.

Whatever the results, we’re a strong nation and we’ll muddle through somehow.

    Shade and Sweetwater,

  4. Kyddryn and Suz – It is indeed over now and I have never been more optimistic about the outcome as I feel today. Regardless of which candidate got your vote, it’s apparent that it’s a New Era for the USA.
