Random updates and administrivia

(Now if that isn’t a compelling title, then friends, I don’t know what is!)

Well, I made it through another Monday. I got up butt-early to walk in the cold and dark with my neighbor – I had really fallen off of that wagon, and let’s just say that the flannel sheets on our warm cozy bed are not making me any more eager to get out of bed. It actually felt good to attempt a fitness activity again.

I thought all day about what to write, and all I could come up with was a handful of follow-ups from recent posts. Maybe the muse will strike tomorrow; until then, you’ll just have to settle for these:

  • FANTASY FOOTBALL UPDATE: My opponent (who, this week, was the walking partner referenced above) beat me by TWO LOUSY POINTS. Two!! I did end up starting Ben Roethlisberger, and for the record, he had more points than Phillip Rivers, who I benched, but neither of them had as many points as Brett Favre, who was my opponent’s starting QB. I made my decision with the help of astute analysis and input from good friends like John and Paul and Steve. Curt and E and CBW? Thanks for your “input.” Really.
  • BUCKSNORT UPDATE: The Bucksnort at Sunday’s party was a big hit! Just the thing to warm your insides on a chilly Fall day. Go make some this weekend; I promise you’ll like it.
  • TARGET UPDATE: I cleverly rationalized myself a way to feed my Target jones: I needed to buy paper supplies for the Bucksnort party!  Besides the party supplies – and I bought all store-brand stuff, I swear – I ended up with only a few random things in my cart that weren’t on my list:  A tooth-whitening pen, some translucent face powder – and of course, a nice new long-sleeved T-shirt. Essentials!

ADMINISTRIVIA! (Do you hate that “word” too?) I have had some new commenters recently and would like to extend a warm Soup welcome to all of you!  I’m glad some of you are finding the inspiration to de-lurk and leave a note.  I welcome all comments – the first time you submit, WordPress waits for me to approve it, but thereafter, you’ll be able to submit instantly.  Also, I respond to comments with reply comments in each post, so you should check back or subscribe in order to receive all follow-ups.

Did someone say YAWN? Hey, you know yawns are contagious; cut it out, you’re making me tired. The yawns and my waning laptop battery are signs I should call it quits for the evening. I wish you many uninterruped hours of warm, cozy sleep. Come back again soon – I will do my best to make it worth your while.

  1. I used to like the word “administrivia,” don’t ask me why. I say “used to” because now that you say you hate it I have to re-think my whole philosophy on the topic.

I succomb easily to peer pressure.

  2. I’m happy to say this is the first time I’ve heard the word “administrivia,” and I kinda hope it’s also the last.

  3. Whoops, I wrote the wrong name. I’m the one who said, I’m happy to say this is the first time I’ve heard the word “administrivia,” and I kinda hope it’s also the last.

  4. Is it like minutiae?

And since minutiae is the plural of minutia, wouldn’t the appropriate spelling of this imaginary word be “administraviae,” or did you mean for it to be singular, Soup?
