UP EARLY to catch a train to Amsterdam! Long leg via Duisburg, then a short hop to Amsterdam. Then a local train out to our Houseboat.
Our what?? We rented a houseboat for two nights, through Air B&B. It was LOVELY. It had two floors, high ceilings, and had been totally renovated. The kitchen wasn’t super-well equipped, but we didn’t plan on cooking there so it didn’t matter. The down side was, while we were about 15 minutes train ride into Amsterdam Centraal, our location felt very suburban. We had to really search to find a restaurant on our first night – ended up at a Chinese restaurant. Which was fine! And, frankly, a welcome change. But we did a lot of walking.
We grabbed a few groceries from the store so we would have breakfast food (and cream for coffee), then went back and retired early-ish. Tomorrow: Touring in Amsterdam.
