Beauty inside

Farm doors

Click to “embiggen” this collage of doors. These are photos I took at one of our tour stops in King and Queen County, Virginia. The white is the farmhouse, and the red is the barn.

These shots remind me that even though I might be sprouting invasive vines aging, I still have plenty to give and to share. And, if you take the time to look beyond my wrinkles and sags and frumpy wardrobe oh, who am I kidding extra weight, there’s beauty inside. It’s all in your viewpoint. We should all be so forgiving when we look at each other.

I’m working on a recap of the Chesapeake Blogfest weekend – It’s taking longer than I’d like because I’m still unpacking of my paying job. Also, I don’t want to just throw something up here – I want it to be good. And it may not end up being all that good, but you’ll know I’ve tried, anyway. Won’t you?

GAH. I’m not making sense. Must be bedtime.

Chesapeake Bay Chopsticks

During the planning stages leading up to last weekend’s Virginia Blogfest, Laurie and I discovered that we have many things in common. One of them is a freakish unique talent for rewriting lyrics to familiar tunes.  Thus, we put our heads together and came up with this little ditty to honor our hostesses.  Rumor has it there’s a video of our only performance;  I’ll amend my post when it comes my way, but until then, you know the tune, so sing along in your head.

TO THE TUNE OF “CHOPSTICKS”

 VERSE 1

 Chesapeake Bay Woman

And Big Hair Envy are

Having a Blog Fest in Math-

-ews County, Vir-

-gin-ya this weekend, so

Gather your blog buddies,

Come for the weekend and

Bring some wine!

CHORUS 1

It’s sure to be a hoot,

Watch out for the goose

And also the fiddler crabs

 The daffodils are gone

It’s terribly sad,

But that’s what the wine is for!

VERSE 2

 Cookouts and beaches and

Star-bellied Sneetches are

Part of the charm here in Math-

-ews County, Vir-

-gin-ya! The Come-heres all

Mixing with From-heres so

Come to our Blog Fest on

Chesapeake Bay!

CHORUS 2

 Who cares about the time,

Let’s drink some more wine,

Because we are all friends here!

When we go home we’ll write

On all of our blogs

About how we love it here.

VERSE 3

(we’ll) Go to the courthouse and

Stand in the Food “Line” to

Gather provisions and buy us some wine,

Then we’ll go to Gwynn’s Island,

Eat dinner in Hallieford,

Light us a bonfire

And drink some beer

CHORUS 3

We thank you very much

For hosting this Fest,

You really are just the best!

Let’s raise our glasses to

Big Hair Envy and

The Chesapeake Bay Woman!

The more, the merrier

I don’t have time now for a full post, and I have so much I want to share about Virginia Blogfest weekend. It’s all simmering inside the pressure-cooker that is my brain… when it’s fork-tender, I’ll lift it out and serve it up.  Till then, I”ll leave you with this photo, taken on a beach cove on Gwynn’s Island, Saturday night. It’s true what they say – the more, the merrier. And oh, were we ever merry.
